Beer of the Week – Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve

I had no idea the jolly old fat ass had a beer cellar, but according to Rogue Brewing, he does.

Merry Christmas, to brew.

I leave this fat S.O.B. cookies and milk EVERY YEAR, and he is YET to reciprocate with a frosty brew. Dude needs an attitude adjustment. Hell … i had to traverse to Stein’s Deli in New Orleans to buy my own bottle of his Private Reserve. Stingy old fart.

It poured a deep amber with a thick, generous tan/off-white head that left pretty decent lacing. Smelled of spicy, piney/sprucey hops with biscuity malts – not unlike fresh bread in a pine forest. Tastes of peppery hops with sprucey hops and winter spices (spruce and ginger). It had a medium mouthfeel with a nice tingly carbonation with a rather earthy finish. Once again, a hoppy beer with enough malt balance to make it an easy drinker. 3.8/5
