Founded in 1986, the Abita Brewing Company is nestled in the piney woods 30 miles north of New Orleans. In its first year, the brewery produced 1,500 barrels of beer. We had no idea what we started. Customers loved our beer! By 1994, we outgrew the original site (now our 100 seat brew pub) and moved up the road to a larger facility to keep up with demand. We brew over 90,000 barrels of beer and 5,000 barrels of root beer in our state of the art brewing facility. Our lagers and ales are brewed in small batches, hand-crafted by a team of dedicated workers with only the highest ideals of quality. This pride, along with our brewing process, is what creates our great brews. We are privately owned and operated by local shareholders, many who have been with us since day one. Abita uses only the finest ingredients – British and North American malted barley, German and American yeast strains, Pacific Northwest hops and the pure artesian water of Abita Springs.

Returning to America after a six year deployment in West Germany, our brewmaster dreamed of creating a beer that would pair with the Cajun cuisine he grew up eating. Living in Europe, he had learned to appreciate the regional foods and beers of many countries, and how they had evolved to complement each other. Taking up brewing beer at home, he taught himself to make several styles of these beers, fine-tuning recipes until he was satisfied that they complimented Cajun and Creole food. After returning to Arnaudville, he taught his brothers and collaborating they brewed commemorative batches of beer for their family’s holiday meals. Bayou Teche Brewing was founded on this simple dream – to craft beers that compliment the cuisine and lifestyle of Cajuns and Creoles. With that mission, the Knott brothers decided on St. Patrick’s Day in 2009 to convert a discarded rail road car into a farmhouse brewery.

They specialize in making unique craft beverage brews that appeal to the casual consumer as well as the initiated drinker. They brew one barrel at a time, without preservatives or flavor-killing pasteurization. Be sure to try their “Ember Ale,” Root Ale” and “Acadiana Berry Ale.” Watch these guys … they’re going places.

Our brewhouse, located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, carries on the proud brewing tradition of New Orleans’ past as the brewing capital of the South by contributing to the present-day American Craft Beer renaissance. Brewing beer since 2005 as Heiner Brau Microbrewery, the first Covington Brewhouse labeled beers were introduced in 2010 to increase awareness that excellent, handcrafted beers were being produced right here in beautiful downtown Covington. The renaming of the brewery to “Covington Brewhouse” heralds a new chapter in the region’s rich brewing tradition with plans for additional beer styles that not only pair well with the amazing Louisiana cuisine, but stand on their own with distinctive taste and character.

The Crescent City Brewhouse is a 17-barrel state-of-the-art brewery, which incorporates Old World values and modern technology. World-class beer is brewed in small quantities according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 from four natural ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast. No stabilizers or chemicals are used. All brewing is completed in-house.

Their Cajun Stout and Pumpkin Porter are uniquely Louisiana, and their King Cake Ale was a huge hit at New Orleans’ annual “New Orleans on Tap.”

NOLA Brewing is the concept and dream of entrepreneur Kirk Coco. Kirk is a native New Orleanian who earned his BA and Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University, his MBA from the University of New Orleans and served 11 years as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy. After watching the effects of Katrina while on deployment in the Arabian Gulf, he decided to come home to help rebuild and develop commerce in post-Katrina New Orleans.

Using only the finest ingredients, we’d never cut costs at the expense of flavor. Think of Parish as an upstart local brewery in cajun country doing battle against boring, tasteless swill.
